Whilst much of Old Time Workshop relates to standard gauge prototypes, narrow gauge modelling has featured has a hobby for many years.  I first started modelling the Ravenglass & Eskdale railway some 20 years ago, and it was out of this that the R&ER kits emerged.  They featured on the exhibition layout 'Boot 1918' (Railway Modeller May 2001) but had been out of production for some time.
They are entirely etched brass, save wheelsets and handrail wire (supplied).  Being fairly new to kit design back then, there are a couple of tight spots on the end overlays, but they are nonetheless fairly straightforward to put together.  When finished, they have a body size that feels around TT, although the details and passengers are obviously somewhat larger.  They can either be run on 009 track with the sleepers buried and overgrown, or scratchbuilt track using 009 rail and 0 sleepers.  The coach ends up around 5 1/2" long, plus couplings.
At present, the range consists three vehicles: a saloon coach and luggage van (used both on the Duffield Bank and Ravenglass & Eskdale railways) and Ford model T powered locomotive 'ICL No 1'.
To complement these, we have a couple of whitemetal kits, a wooden wheel barrow and a set of quarry hand tools.  Both of these are typical of quarry and mining environments.
There are a number of name- and numberplates in our etched range which are suitable for narrow gauge locomotives.  Many of the more obscure industrial names have not made it onto the list, so please enquire if you do not immediately see what you are looking for.

ICL1 Ravenglass & Eskdale Railway passenger locomotive ICL No 1
This interesting prototype was heavily rebuilt in 1927 on the frame of an earlier locomotive.  It had a long life, surviving in powered form until c1960 when it had its engine removed and saw further service as a permanent way riding van.  Having escaped scrapping, it is now part of the R&ER museum collection.  Some years ago, I assisted in the project to re-install the original Ford Model T engine and restart it under it's own power.
This kit can either be made to reflect the mid-1930s condition of the locomotive using the Bachmann U36B chassis (not supplied) or as an unpowered van (requires bogies & wheelsets).  The kit has now been upgraded and features a cast front with improved louvres and a dummy Basette-Lowke coupling for the buffer beam.
£25.00
ICL 1 can be supplied as an assembled body, for fitting to your chassis.  This is supplied in bare brass and may need minor filling & finishing before priming and paint.  This price includes the above kit. £40.00
Spare coach bogies & wheelsets to convert ICL No 1 to unpowered van. £5.00
